Chelsea have just confirmed on Friday afternoon that their academy prospect has signed a new contract at the club.
The Chelsea academy has been producing top-class talents for many years now, so let’s hope that the production line at Cobham doesn’t stop soon. For example, the current first-team squad includes academy graduates such as Reece James and Levi Colwill.
The Blues have recently lost academy talent Rio Ngumoha this summer, who’s left to join Liverpool on a free transfer. Interestingly, John Terry thinks 16-year-old Ngumoha will develop into a top player.
However, Chelsea rising star Genesis Antwi has just committed his future at Stamford Bridge.

Genesis Antwi pens Chelsea contract
Cheslea confirmed via its official website on Friday afternoon that Genesis Antwi has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The 17-year-old defender became a full-time scholar with the Blues at the start of the 2023/24 campaign. Now, the teenage star has been rewarded with a professional deal.
He was originally signed by Chelsea as an Under-12. During his time progressing through the academy ranks, he’s predominately played as a right-back, although he can cover at left-back as well.
Antwi has represented Chelsea at various age groups, including the Under-21s side. He’s started the new 2024/25 season with a couple of starts for the Under-18s team.
In terms of his international career, the Stockholm-born teenager currently plays for Sweden’s Under-17s side, earning nine caps so far.
Chelsea have a track record of producing quality right-backs
Fresh off signing a new deal, Antwi is one individual in the Chelsea academy ranks to keep an eye on moving forward. He’s certainly got plenty of examples to look up to when he wants to see what’s achievable for young right-backs at Cobham.
Reece James, Tino Livramento and Tariq Lamptey are all high-profile right-backs that spent large parts of their youth in the Chelsea system.
While the Blues have focused on recruiting young stars from all over under this ownership, it’ll be great to see homegrown talents keep coming through as well.
