Chelsea are reportedly still interested in signing recently recruited Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Beraldo.
The brilliant young Brazilian centre-back excelled during his time at Sao Paulo and one envisions there were lots of top European teams monitoring him when he was there.
In the end, Beraldo signed a €20 million deal to join PSG. However, according to Caught Offside, it appears Chelsea are still keeping an eye on him and fellow Brazilian and Nottingham Forest defender Murillo as potential defensive possibilities.
If Beraldo becomes available at any point in the near future, Chelsea would be wise to seize the opportunity, as they could certainly use more defensive options.
Under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, the Blues have spent a lot of money on a number of new players. But there have also been a number of busts. A majority of the fans would probably agree that Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile have been among the most underwhelming.
While it’s possible that the French pair will still be able to turn things around at Stamford Bridge, Beraldo might be an improvement in that area.
Although the 20-year-old still has a lot to learn, he may have a greater potential than Chelsea’s existing center backs, thus the west London-based club may want to consider investing in him.
