Solskjaer on strikers

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave more insight into United’s search for a striker this transfer window during his press conference on Tuesday.

Asked if he is open to loan deals, the Norwegian replied: “Yeah, we are looking at different scenarios.

“If there are deals to be done we will update you on that. We know that Marcus is out for a few months. That will take its toll on the team because we are stretched.

“They know that, but it’s also giving them a chance to take some chances now.

“[It’s] the million dollar question for us because Marcus has been fantastic. Step up. Someone’s got to step up.”

Personal terms have already been agreed, meaning there should be no hold up on Fernandes’ contract.

Fernandes progress

Manchester United could have a deal for Bruno Fernandes sewn up before the end of the week.

The Mirror report that Marcus Rashford’s injury has accelerated United’s need to bring more creativity into the side and they are close to agreeing a £55million deal, including add-ons.

Sporting Lisbon’s financial difficulties were seen as a weakness which United tried to play on but the Primeira Liga club have held firm in negotiations.

Fernandes played last night as Sporting lost 2-1 to Braga.
