Belgian national Kevin De Bruyne has warned Manchester City to rectify the issue of two years ban by UEFA as he linked Real Madrid and Barcelona for a possible move during the summer transfer window.

“I’m just waiting,” he had told HLN on Saturday. “The club has told us that they are going to appeal [the UEFA ban] and that they are almost one hundred percent sure that they are right. That’s why I’m waiting to see what will happen. I trust my team.
“Once the statement is made, I will review everything. Two years would belong, in the case of one year I might see.”
For City fans, the comments could be taken to suggest De Bruyne is open to staying at the Etihad even if their UEFA ban is upheld. For rival fans, it was a hint that he will look to leave.
If De Bruyne was to seek a move away in search of Champions League football, he would be one of the most wanted players in Europe, and the reality is that most fans would reluctantly understand his position. At 28 years old – he turns 29 in June – the midfielder is at the peak of his career and won’t fancy two years without the opportunity to add the Champions League to his collection of titles.
It’s a situation City fans don’t want to entertain. Like De Bruyne, they are waiting on the club’s appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport with held breath and fingers crossed.
However, De Bruyne offered further insight into his future plans in his HLN interview, as he spoke of his loyalty to City amid transfer interest from elsewhere.
In his future, he said: “I play for one of the best teams in the world, play in England – for my competitive view the best competition – and I like that. It remains a challenge to be the best and I need that too. What is coming is coming.
“But it’s not that I’ve tried to leave City in those five years. I have also remained calm for my previous transfers. I have never had any problems and have always waited for my moment. With respect, because I think you get most of it back. Even outside of football.”
