Chelsea handed transfer boost to sign £350k-per-week Belgian star on a 5-year deal

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed

Southampton star and CHELSEA target Romeo Lavia could leave the club this summer if they are relegated from the Premier League.

Chelsea have had an awful season this year and will end the campaign with no trophies or no Champions league football – meaning the club will need to splash some more cash in the summer window.

Incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino is a man that is heading to the club over the next few weeks after agreeing to take over the Premier League giants for the next few seasons.

Many clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal and former side Manchester City are pushing to sign the 19-year-old this summer after an impressive campaign – despite the fact the Saints could go down.

Now – amid the speculation Iomie Stanley has delivered a huge update on the midfielder from an Chelsea perspective.

CHELSEA could still come back in for Moises Caicedo, even if the priority is Declan Rice. And they could go for Romeo Lavia as well”, he said.

“They won’t get all three, but it could indicate that they might be looking for two in the centre of the park when these targets are concrete.

“They’re looking at such a high volume of players because not all these deals are easy, particularly the ones involving the teams that are well down in the Premier League.

‘Lavia is one of the most important players that the Saints have and will want to keep the lad – especially because he has a massive future in the game and will not command a massive wage when the club get relegated to the Championship.

‘But Lavia will want to stay in the Premier League and will want to join a club that will give him that opportunity – so he will be looking for a way out as soon as the transfer window opens up.’

KOMPANY SIGNS FIVE-YEAR DEAL –

Vincent Kompany has explained his decision to sign a new deal as Burnley manager amid reports linking him to jobs at CHELSEA and Tottenham.

The big Belgian arrived at Turf Moor at the start of the season and has guided Burnley to the Championship trophy in his first campaign, with his side earning rave reviews for the way he plays.

It led to some stunning reports in the media that both Chelsea and Tottenham would be interested in a potential deal to bring him to their respective clubs, as they were both looking for a new manager.

However – It appears that Kompany will not be tempted by either club, though, having signed a five-year extension at Burnley on Sunday.

‘Burnley and Turf Moor felt right pretty much from the start – so it also feels right to sign for the next five years,’ Kompany told the club’s website.

‘Together with the fans we have made Turf Moor a fortress again and continue to look forward to the future and the job of making Burnley better with every step.’

Burnley chairman Alan Pace, speaking about Kompany’s extension, added: ‘We are ecstatic Vincent has signed a new deal!

‘He is the perfect fit for how we all see Burnley Football Club moving forward.

‘An extraordinary leader, setting ever higher standards and driving our club to the levels we all want to achieve.’

It was a mass ive shock to see that Kompany was linked with a move to one of the big Premier League sides – but considering he is just getting started in management – agreeing a new contract and staying put is probably the best thing for him.

He is not quite ready to lead a side like CHELSEA or Tottenham – there will be far too much pressure.

AUBA WANTS BARCA –

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has confirmed he wants to return to Barcelona this summer following his dismal spell at Chelsea.

Chelsea were desperate to add to their attack in the summer transfer window and were linked with so many players – some big ones too – as former boss Thomas Tuchel wanted to be backed in the market.

But despite all the world class players that were heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge – Aubameyang was the name that arrived at the club.

However – Aubameyang has endured a miserable spell at Stamford Bridge following a deadline-day move from Barca last summer, and looks like a man that is done at the very highest level of the game

The Gabon superstar had only spent eight months at the Nou Camp – scoring 13 goals in 24 games – but was offloaded by a Barcelona desperately looking to raise funds to improve their financial situation.

His next destination remains unclear but Aubameyang appears to have a clear preference as he revealed he wanted to return to Barcelona in a video that has emerged on social media.

‘I would like to return to Barcelona but we’ll see,’ said Aubameyang,

Chelsea should never have brought the man back and the best thing to do would be to get him out of the club as soon as possible.

This is a very good decision from Chelsea to make as Auba is a player that is just taking money from the club on a weekly basis and doing nothing.

So, fans will wish him the best of luck and hope that the club sign a better striker next time around. Especially is they want to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool for that Premier League title next season
