Chelsea officially announce the departure of 44-goal machine

CHELSEA Women, Pernille Harder’s departure from the club has also been confirmed

Harder’s arrival was a landmark signing from Wolfsburg in September 2020. Chelsea paid a world-record fee for the Denmark international, which was beaten by Keira Walsh’s move from Manchester City to Barcelona last summer.

Harder has spent much of this season sidelined due to injury, but has scored 44 goals in her Chelsea career so far, but she will be departing the club at the end of the current season.

She will also be looking to add a few more titles to the cabinet as Chelsea beat Man Utd in the Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday and are on course to win another WSL title in the next nine days.

Posting on Instagram, Harder said: “To every Chelsea fan around the world. It’s been a dream coming true playing for this amazing club and I’ve loved every single moment along the way.

‘I’m leaving the club with so many great memories and friendships and I will forever be grateful for how you fans have welcomed me into the Blues family. Thanks for your unbelievable support throughout the years. It’s been an amazing journey.”

Chelsea manager Hayes said in a statement: “Pernille is one of the best attacking players in the world. She has always been so driven to succeed, to get to the top and to help the team win trophies.
