Impossible to stop him, Chelsea key player on his improvement

To say that Mykhaylo Mudryk’s start to his Chelsea career has gone to plan would be a lie, since the Ukraine international, bought for €70m, has yet to live up to expectations.

Impossible to stop him, Chelsea key player on his improvement

The Blues did everything in their power to beat Arsenal to the 22-year-old, but his first six months after the January transfer were rather poor, as he failed to find the back of the net in 17 appearances, contributing with just two assists.

Things under Mauricio Pochettino have been a bit better, with two goals in 10 Premier League appearances, and former Shakhtar Donetsk sporting director José Boto told TuttoMercatoWeb that things should continue to improve for the Chelsea star.

He said: “Mudryk is a player who has his technique and his attitude as his best attributes. He is also fast, and sometimes, when he sets off at speed, it really is impossible to stop him. At the moment, he is not going through his best moment because the expectations of his club are very high.

“The level of Chelsea is very high, but it’s normal. He has to be patient, keep working and remember that he is still young. He can do incredible things in his career.”

Chelsea decided to spend big on the former Shakhtar star because of how impressive he had been with his club both domestically and at European level, scoring 12 goals and assisting another 17 in 44 total appearances for them.

There was a lot of hype at the time, and the interest from London rivals certainly helped increase the price at the time.

Still, Chelsea compensated that by offering him a very long contract (before a limit was set), as he is linked to Stamford Bridge until 2031.
