James, Chukwuemeka, Noni react to Romeo Lavia debut for Chelsea last night

Romeo Lavia finally made his Chelsea debut in last night’s match against Crystal Palace.

Afterwards, Blues stars Reece James and Cole Palmer both praised their teammate.

Chelsea recorded an important 2-1 win yesterday at home to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with Noni Madueke popping up with an 89th minute penalty to win the game.

It was a day to remember for Romeo Lavia, who’s missed the first half of the season through injury. But the 19-year-old midfielder came off the bench versus Palace to make his Chelsea debut.

Lavia celebrated his first ever appearance for the Blues with an Instagram post last night, which received responses in the comment section from the likes of James and Palmer. Chelsea teammates Carney Chukwuemeka, Malo Gusto and Madueke replied, too.

Finally, Chelsea supporters got to see Lavia in their colours. It’s been a long wait since he joined in the summer from Southampton in a £58million deal (Sky Sports).

The all-action defensive midfielder looked very busy during just over 30 minutes on the pitch in the second-half against Palace.

Let’s hope that the midfielder’s not picked up a fresh injury setback when he’s only just got himself fit.

We’re intrigued to see how the Blues midfield takes shape when the manager has to choose from Lavia, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher in the centre of the park. It’s an area of the pitch where Chelsea do have some incredibly young talented players.

Lavia can definitely bring an extra edge to the midfield with his ability to break up play in front of the defence. He’s a very progressive passer of the ball, too.
