Chelsea announce departure of key player

David Datro Fofana has signed a loan deal with Burnley to play for the remainder of the 2023–2024 season, according to Chelsea.

Fofana played the most of the season on loan with Union Berlin, a Bundesliga team that had advanced to the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Nevertheless, the striker only managed to score twice in 17 appearances across all competitions, as he was unable to secure a starting position in the German city. Fofana's tenure at Union has come to an end, and Chelsea have loaned him to Burnley to finish the season.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to press ahead with a bid for highly-rated Royal Antwerp midfielder Arthur Vermeeren during the summer transfer window.

The 2005-born midfielder, who made his first team debut during the 2022–23 season, has already established himself in a regular starting place for the Belgian upstarts at the age of just 18.

In 2022–2023, Antwerp achieved a historic double in the Jupiler Pro League and Belgian Cup, with Vermeeren thriving in the centre of their engine room. This earned them a spot in the Champions League.

Vermeeren recently said that he would like to stay at Royal Antwerp for the rest of his life, but teams like Barcelona, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are all reportedly keeping an eye on his performances this season.

Man United is reportedly "laying the groundwork" for a summer move for the Belgium international, who made his first two appearances for his nation last year, according to Football Insider.
