Chelsea have done one thing more time than any other teams

It has been a disappointing season for Chelsea, with the Blues currently outside the top four.

However, while Chelsea may not be getting the results, Mauricio Pochettino‘s team are at least working hard on the pitch.

According to WhoScored, they have actually won possession in the attacking third more times than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues.

It shows that the likes of Nicolas Jackson, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer have been pressing and trying to get the ball back for the Blues.

It is an important thing to do in the game today and Pochettino will be expecting his attackers and the rest of the team to keep that up.

Chelsea still need to improve

The above is good but Chelsea obviously need to get much better at everything else. Pochettino’s men are ninth right now, which is disappointing when you look at the quality at Stamford Bridge and all of the players that have been brought in recently.

Champions League football looks to be gone, but Europa League qualification is not out of sight.

If they can qualify for that, win the Carabao Cup and go far in the FA Cup, some Chelsea supporters would be satisfied. But again, there needs to be improvement.

If not, then Pochettino could come under serious pressure, especially with Jose Mourinho now available.

Mourinho was recently sacked by AS Roma and would be one logical name for the Blues to consider if they wanted to part ways with their current boss. However, we are nowhere near that point yet.

Chelsea will have the chance to book their place in the Carabao Cup final when they take on Middlesbrough next Tuesday. They are 1-0 down in their semi-final tie after losing the first leg at the Riverside. After that, they take on Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
