Chelsea told it would cost "big money" to sign new 26-year-old right-back as Reece James replacement

 Without much doubts, Chelsea football club will most definitely remain keen on further strengthening their current squad under the management of Mauricio Pochettino this season.

 


The West London club were very much active during the summer transfer window last year as they completed the signings of several players including Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Nicolas Jackson.

However, Chelsea right-back Reece James has struggled to stay fit so far this ongoing 2023/2024 season and the Blues are now on the lookout for a new right-back this year.

And if reports are anything to go by, then Chelsea football club have been linked with a transfer move for experienced Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.


The 26-year-old England International, who signed up for Southampton after departing Tottenham Hotspur back in 2020 has been an important member of the first-team squad in recent seasons.

The experienced right-back was hugely involved for Southampton football club during the 2022/2023 season where he scored one goal in 38 appearances in all competitions.

Kyle Walker-Peters has also continued in his impressive form for Southampton so far this ongoing 2023/2024 season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.

His excellent performances in defence has caught the attention of Chelsea football club and according to reports from The Sun, the Premier League side want to sign him.

 

The reports further claimed that Southampton are very much aware of Chelsea's interest in Kyle Walker-Peters and have told the club that it will cost a big transfer fee to offload him this year.

It is believed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants Kyle Walker-Peters to replace the injured Reece James but he has now been told that Chelsea need to offer a big transfer fee in order to sign the right-back.

But then, it remains to be seen if Chelsea football club will do the needful and submit an undeniable offer in order to sign Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton this year.
