Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen keen on joining Chelsea as Todd Boehly approves his move

Mauricio Pochettino, facing challenges in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, aims to reinforce his squad this month, despite the club's hefty £1.3bn spending in the past four transfer windows. Limited involvement in last summer's transfers has fueled the Argentine's desire for a more significant role in future recruitment decisions.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager perceives a shortage in the team's attack, heavily depending on Nicolas Jackons's goals in his inaugural season. Although 24-year-old Osimhen recently extended his contract with Napoli, the deal reportedly includes a £103 million release clause. Osimhen's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations this month makes a January move improbable.

However, reports from the Daily Mail suggest additional significant spending by Boehly and Osimhen's openness to relocating to west London. While Chelsea won't be the sole suitor for Osimhen, the Nigerian maintains regular communication with club legend Didier Drogba regarding a potential move to the capital. In addition to securing a new forward, Pochettino expresses a keen interest in acquiring a left-back. With Ben Chilwell sidelined, Levi Colwill has filled in, but his performance faced widespread criticism after the club's EFL semi-final first-leg loss to Middlesbrough earlier this week.
