Some big Chelsea news has filtered in this afternoon with the club making a contract offer with negotiations ongoing.
The Athletic have the exclusive report, and there’s some key details in this report and some important bits of info.
They are reporting that to Chelsea have made a contract offer to Lyon head coach Sonia Bompastor to replace Emma Hayes who leaves for the USWNT at end of season.
Nothing is finalised yet though, and they claim that negotiations ongoing. Bompastor’s contract with Lyon expires in 2025.
Bompastor has won the Champions League as a player and manager, and she is the chosen candidate for Chelsea. But the report is keen to stress that nothing has been signed and the process remains ongoing.
Hayes has been an incredible manager for Chelsea Women’s and will be seriously hard to replace, but this certainly looks to be one of the better candidates they could push.
