Alejandro Garnacho has scored an instant goal of the season contender with a stunning bicycle kick for Manchester United against Everton at Goodison Park.

The Argentinian's acrobatic strike came inside just four minutes on Merseyside, with the 19-year-old's effort flying into the top corner beyond Jordan Pickford.

The move started with Victor Lindelof, who played an inch-perfect crossfield pass to Marcus Rashford.

Diogo Dalot then floated the ball to Garnacho who, unmarked from 15 yards out, produced an unbelievable bicycle kick to give United the lead.

You can watch the clip below.

Gary Neville is on commentary at Goodison Park, with the United legend still playing for the club at the time of Wayne Rooney's infamous bicycle kick against Manchester City in 2011.

Garnacho's goal had the same quality, with the Argentinian arching back, taking a split-second to assess his options, before letting fly on a strike that will surely be among the main contenders for the Puskas Award next time around.

In a season that has seen plenty of lows thus far for United, that goal will be a moment that the club's supporters - particularly those in attendance at Goodison Park - will remember for some time to come.

Manager Erik ten Hag watched the goal live from the stands, with the Dutchman banned from the touchline on Sunday as a result of receiving three yellow cards in the Premier League this season.

And amid an extremely hostile atmosphere on Merseyside, with Everton fans' backlash to the club's recent 10-point deduction by the Premier League, it was the ideal way for United to get things up and running.

The Puskas Award is given out in January 2024, and while the 11 candidates have already been announced, we suspect FIFA might just make room for a 12th nominee - or add Garnacho to next year's nominees after his stunning goal.
