Mauricio Pochettino summoned his Chelsea squad for an early morning cold training after their disastrous 4-1 defeat to Newcastle.
The Blues find themselves languishing in 10th place after suffering their fifth league loss of the season.
Pochettino who was all mad about the result, said, “It was our worst game of the season.
“We did not read the game from the beginning, showed a lack of intensity and energy. We need to understand the level we need to compete.”
The Argentine manager also plans to use the setback as a teachable moment for his young team, stating, “It is a young team; they need this type of situation to realize.”
Pochettino emphasized accountability, asserting that the blame falls on the collective team, announcing, “We will train early tomorrow, no time off.”
Meanwhile, acknowledging the disappointment, Pochettino issued a public apology: “I’m very sorry even for our fans that were here, they don’t deserve this type of performance.
“We can make mistakes, but I think we need to compete better.”
The Blues will hope to bounce back in their next fixture against a strong Brighton side at Stamford Bridge.
