Pochettino should start £110k-per-week Chelsea star against Newcastle

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is finally beginning to see a number of his key players return from injury.

With the busy festive period fast approaching, the boss will certainly be looking to his squad in order to rotate and maintain fitness.

One position where there has not been much room for rotation is in centre-back. A number of injuries have plagued the Blues there this season.

They were without Benoit Badiashile for the first few months of the campaign off the back of an injury he picked up last season.

While he has been seen back on the pitch, it has very much been a case of easing him back into action.

With Wesley Fofana still out for a while, Pochettino has had to rely on a selection of his defenders to do a lot of the work.

Pochettino should start Thiago Silva

One of those is Thiago Silva, who has started every Premier League game for the club this season.

This has certainly been more than the boss will have been expecting, however heading into another big run of fixtures it would be the wrong decision to drop him now.

This is despite the club enjoying the news this week that Levi Colwill is fit again and back in training ahead of the fixture against Newcastle.

The England international had started every Premier League game too until an injury kept him out of the last game against Manchester City.

He has split his minutes this season playing either in the left-back or centre-back role, however he now faces stiff competition to play in the former.

Marc Cucurella is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence of his Chelsea career this season, and has certainly made a case to start on the left this weekend.
