Chelsea and Arsenal in race to sign Leipzig star, Sesko

Chelsea and Arsenal are both in the hunt for a player considered “one of the best talents in the world,” but will have to wait until the summer to see a move come to fruition, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea and Arsenal in race to sign Leipzig star, Sesko

The top transfer insider is speaking about Benjamin Sesko, the RB Leipzig striker who has been attracting attention from around Europe for more than a year now. Romano’s report, exclusively in his Daily Briefing for Caughtoffside, is that both London clubs have Sesko towards the top of their list of strikers, but also that Leipzig don’t want to sell in January:

“I see Benjamin Šeško staying at Leipzig in January and maybe leaving in the summer,” Romano wrote.

“All the top European clubs are tracking him, it’s normal, he’s one of the best talents in the world. Nothing happening now as it’s not one for January.”

Despite being so highly rated, and despite Leipzig’s focus on developing young talent, Sesko hasn’t played as much as he would have hoped this season, which is a red flag for teams who may want to buy him, but also pushes him towards an exit sooner rather than later.
