He's best at where Pochettino plans to play Christopher Nkunku

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed where he plans to play new attacker Christopher Nkunku and describes his best position.

Nkunku is one of those flexible players who can probably do a job in many different roles across the attack, but he’s also one of those forwards that you can’t really pinpoint as just a striker.

Some people would see him as a wide player, second striker, or a number ten, and I think it is the latter in where he can operate at his best.

But Pochettino says he sees him best as a 9 or a 10, which is quite interesting.

I don’t think Nkunku is the kind of 9 that Chelsea need right now and personally I think he has to play behind a striker to get the very best out of him.

In words cited by 90min, Pochettino said: “Because he’s coming back from injury I think he’s best as a 10 or a 9, more than from the left or right-hand side.

“I think at the moment to cope with the demand of the Premier League and what the team need, he is better in the middle positions.”

We’ll soon see how Pochettino adapts him into his squad as he plays more and more games being eased back in.
