Chelsea to be without two key players

Chelsea will be without Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer when they host Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, December 27.

The pair have provided some bright moments for the Blues this season, and were involved as they were beaten 2-1 by Wolves at the Molineux on Sunday afternoon.

However, both Sterling and Palmer received yellow cards during the game, and will now be suspended for Chelsea’s midweek clash with Palace. Also booked in the game against Wolves were Conor Gallagher, Malo Gusto, and Nicolas Jackson.

Second half goals from Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty ensured that Gary O’Neil’s men picked up all three points in the clash, although things could have easily gone the way of the visitors had they been more efficient in front of goal.

Sterling was presented with Chelsea’s best opportunity in the first half after he ran clear of the last Wolves defender with no one, but Jackson and Palmer to his right. The forward opted to shoot himself instead of passing the ball to either of his teammates to tap it into the net, and had the effort saved by José Sa.
