ARS (5:2 PEN) POR: David Raya wins man of the match award

David Raya maintained his position in goal for Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League yesterday when they took on FC Porto at the Emirates Stadium.

The Spanish International came out with an astonishing performance in this match as he inspired Arsenal to an important 4-2 victory over FC Porto on penalties.

Arsenal went ahead in the 41st minute of the game as Leandro Trossard drove a brilliant effort into the back of the net to make the scoreline 1-0 in favour of the Gunners at halftime.

Martin Odegaard doubled Arsenal's lead in the second half of the match but unfortunately, his goal was ruled out for a foul in the build-up. FC Porto defended really well as they prevented Arsenal from scoring any other goal in the encounter which ended in a 1-1 draw on aggregate at full-time.

Since the scoreline was 1-1 on aggregate, the match got extended to extra-time but still neither side could score a decisive goal to secure the win. A penalty shootout eventually came and Arsenal scaled through by defeating FC Porto 4-2 to make the quarter-final stage of the tournament.

Without any doubt, David Raya stood out on the pitch as one of Arsenal's best players against FC Porto. The Spanish Goalkeeper made two important saves during the penalty shootout as he helped Arsenal secure this crucial win over the Portuguese team. The 28-year-old eventually won the Man of the Match award after his fine performance for the Gunners.
