How Chelsea star helps his country to seal Euro 2024 qualification in 2-1 win over Iceland

Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk sealed Ukraine's place in Euro 2024 with a dramatic late goal, securing a 2-1 victory over Iceland.

The 23-year-old's stunning 84th-minute goal turned the tide in favor of the Ukrainians after Albert Gudmundsson had initially put Iceland in the lead.

Despite facing challenges at Stamford Bridge since his record-breaking £89 million transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023, Mudryk has now etched his name in Ukrainian football history.

Mauricio Pochettino's management saw Mudryk struggle for starts and goals, managing only five goals in 43 appearances across all competitions.

However, his late-game heroics against Iceland have elevated him to legendary status, reminiscent of David Beckham's iconic free-kick for England in 2001.

The victory against Iceland comes as redemption for Ukraine, who were controversially denied an automatic qualification spot by Italy.

Mudryk himself was at the center of a contentious penalty decision in the crucial final qualification match against Italy, which ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw.

Despite the setback, Ukraine fought their way through the playoffs, securing a dramatic 2-1 comeback win against Bosnia and Herzegovina before Mudryk's decisive moment against Iceland
