Chelsea's Marina Granovskaia handed boost to complete £31.5m centre-back transfer deal

Chelsea have been reportedly linked with Bayern Munich centre-back, Niklas Sule this summer transfer as Marina Granovskaia handed boost to complete £31.5m transfer deal

In Sule, they may not get a better option, with Nagelsmann refusing to rule out the prospect that he could be sold before the end of this summer’s window.

“I think it’s important to be completely transparent with the players,” Nagelsmann said, as quoted by the Metro.

“The players also need to understand the club’s perspective concerning the contractual situation.

“Niki’s contract expires next year and his last season was not especially happy.

“But he also has everything that a world-class central defender needs and that shouldn’t be forgotten.”

Admittedly, Sule is a fantastic central-defender and would bolster any clubs’ options at the back. However, the 2020/21 campaign proved to be disappointing for him as he made just 33 appearances in all competitions, with injuries playing a key factor.

However, although Nagelsmann has refused to rule out the possibility of Sule being sold this summer, he has also hinted that he could still have a future at Bayern.

“If he has the insight to work on his deficits and now is getting a coach who has known him since the U16 team, I’m confident that he will get his engine revving again,’ Nagelsmann admitted.

“I’ve already talked to him about that. He knows he has to do something.

“But I think very, very highly of him.”

Sule, who is currently valued at £31.5million according to transfermarkt, has been linked with Chelsea for several months, suggesting that he is someone who is deep in head coach Thomas Tuchel’s thoughts for when it comes to bolstering the centre-back role.
