See what Chelsea loanee, Kendry Paez did last night

Chelsea loanee Kendry Paez was back amongst the headlines last night as he played his part in the Ecuadorian Cup final.

As his side, Independiente del Valle, took part in the intense final against LDU Quito, the 16-year-old found the net in superb style to give his club the lead in the first half.

While the lead only lasted a matter of minutes, it was still a moment that will go down in history as far as South American football is concerned.

Paez became the youngest player in history to score in the Ecuadorian Championship Final, only adding to the records he is setting in the early stages of what promises to be a stellar career.

He has already established himself as a regular starter for the Ecuador national team, where he features in midfield alongside Chelsea star Moises Caicedo.

The teenager became the youngest to contribute to a goal in South American international football, breaking a record that had been held for a long time by Pele.

As he continues to go from strength to strength, it has been claimed Mauricio Pochettino could be about to get his first look at the player.

Reports had recently claimed that he will be in training with the first team for this week, with his domestic season in Ecuador now coming to an end.

It has also been stated that he will be in attendance at Stamford Bridge when the Blues are back in action tomorrow night in the big EFL Cup tie against Newcastle United.

With the world seemingly at the youngster’s feet, and him already having his potential compared to the likes of Jude Bellingham, there is good reason why Chelsea fans are so excited to see him in action when he can finally join the first team in 2025.
