Reece James has been so battered by injury in the last couple of years that plenty of people have forgotten just how good he is – and that includes Chelsea fans too.
We can’t blame them – availability is the best ability as they say, and James has been severely lacking in that department.
But one person who isn’t going to forget anytime soon is Jody Morris. He was assistant when James made his breakthrough, and he’s seen more of him than almost anyone else. Speaking on the “No Tippy Tappy Football” podcast, Morris waxed lyrical about James ability:
“Reece [James] when he is fit is one of the best right backs in the world and he can play in any team,” the former Blue said, not mincing his words one bit.
We’re all just hoping we get to see a little more of it in the future. This looks set to be another season written off, something which is so sad for those of us who have seen James at his best. There are some hopes he features again before the end of this season, which would be a boost.
