It seemed to work - Sky Sports pundit on Pochettino's decision

Sky Sports’ pundits this morning discussed Thiago Silva being dropped from the team that played so well against Aston Villa

They agreed that it was unlikely to be a disciplinary matter, despite the awkwardness involving his wife’s social media posts over the weekend.

The question will be whether this ends up sticking with this setup long term. The team looked so much better when they were able to play a high line without 39 year old Silva in the team.

As the pundits said, “it seemed to work.” Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile know each other well and were able to play faster and higher without worrying about Silva being caught out.

But before fans get too excited, they should prepare themselves for Silva returning to the team next week. Pochettino has seen all the same games we have this season and kept the Brazilian in the team regardless. Unless last night was truly his epiphany, we can expect him to continue to value the veteran’s experience and leadership despite his lack of mobility.
